Sterilization Guidelines for Forceps:

A. Cleaning
Parts should be washed in hot water and scrubbed with a soft brush.

B. Cold Sterilization
The clean parts may then be chemically disinfected by immersing for 5-10 minutes, in antiseptic solutions such as Cidex, Milton, Dettol or Hydrogen Peroxide; following the manufacturer's recommendations.

C. Gas Sterilization
Parts may be gas sterilized using Ethylene Oxide mixture. Follow sterilizer manufacturer's recommendations. In other respects all reusable products are suitable for ETO gas sterilization. The usual is and ethylene oxide mixture at 125° but the sterilizer manufacturer's recommendation must be followed.

D. Steam Sterilization
Parts may be steam autoclaved at 121° C (250° F) for 15 minutes or 134° C (273° F) for 3 1/2 minutes. Wrap and avoid contact with other instruments. Caution: Flash sterilization about 134° C (273° F) and hot air sterilization may damage the instrument.

CAUTION: Parts should always be inspected before reuse to make certain they are in undented new like condition.
