Sterilization and Cleaning Guidelines for the Face Mask (RBS and B.O.C.
Masks):
WARNING
Dry Heat sterilization must not be used.
The electrical properties of conductive and antistatic products may alter after
repeated resterilization and use.
Plugs must be removed from inflatable pads before autoclaving. ETO gas sterilization
or any other method that subjects the face mask to a vacuum system.
Products showing signs of deterioration should be discarded and destroyed.
STORAGE
Store below 25° C clean dry conditions away from light and avoid contact with
metals, solvents, oil or greases and strong detergents.
CLEANING
Face Masks may be cleaned with mild detergents like Tri-Sodium Phosphate or
a neutral liquid soap and then dried at room temperature.
STERILIZATION
When sterilizing transparent cone masks, the inflatable pad should be separate
prior to sterilization.
AUTOCLAVE METHOD
Face Masks may be autoclaved by normal rubber cycle methods provided the maximum
temperature does not exceed 120° C . Plugs must be removed from the inflatable
pads prior to autoclaving.
COLD METHOD
Many proprietary brands of cold sterilants may be used provided the appropriate
manufacturer's recommendations are followed. Plugs must not be removed from
inflatable pads during cold sterilization techniques.
ETHYLENE OXIDE GAS METHOD (ETO)
Face Masks may be sterilized by ETO gas on the condition that the operation
ensures that the vacuum cycle used does not cause any physical damage to the
Face Mask and providing sufficient aeration is subsequently employed. Face Masks
plus must be removed from the inflatable pads.
